Description

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful galaxies in the south pole sky region. First time I was able to capture at a high focal length (@1960mm). This photo has about only 114 minutes of integration. Sky with a lot of light pollution (bortle 9) but even so the galaxy showed its light. Centaurus A is a peculiar lenticular galaxy in the Centaurus constellation, which appears to be an elliptical galaxy with a huge strip of dust superimposed. If we have difficulty with this description, then can call it just by its common nickname Hamburger Galaxy. It is estimated to be located about 11 million light years away, in the center of one of the two subgroups of the Centaurus A / M83 Group, part of the Virgo Supercluster. It is one of the nearest radioelectric galaxies and its active galactic nucleus has been extensively studied. This galaxy appears approximately 4 ° north of the Omega Centauri globular cluster. At magnitude 7.0, this galaxy has the fifth brightest central bulge and the central strip of dark dust can be seen even with large binoculars; additional structures can be seen only with larger telescopes.
