Description

This image  shows  LBN 639 and the surrounding nebulosity. LBN 639 is the brightest portion of the nebulosity. LBN 639 is part of the larger structure of  the MBM 3 molecular cloud which covers about 5.5x3.5 degrees of sky roughly centered about LBN 639. This region of sky is outside the galactic plane so the star field is sparse. But the distance is relatively close. There are  four PGCC molecular clouds within this field - two of which have distance estimates that place this nebulosity at about 807 to 858 light years. There are quite a few background galaxies  and a few distant quasars. These objects and some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image.
