Description

Ok, this is just Thor's Helmet (NGC2359) turned on its side. You may have to use your imagination, but there is a resemblance to a rabbits head. Or maybe I'm just odd.

Challenging image as it was very low in the horizon from London. This was the last image of 2020. After this image was taken there has been 3-4 months of severe cloud cover, rain and wind. It was truly an awful winter in the UK.

I have to admit it was really fun processing this image, although there are still several things I need to improve upon. The background being one of them. Two sets of images (40 sub-frames each) were taken at different focal lengths and combined in Pixinsight. A total of about 4 hours of data. The data was not particularly good, lots of high cloud and poor seeing conditions.

This is definitely a target I want to come back to this year. Hopefully the conditions will be a bit better.

Happy Easter and Clear Skies.
