Description

The clouds are finally clearing in Sydney, but only when it coincides with the full moon.  With that and the clear evidence that I have forgotten the little I had learned about astro before La Nina arrived 12 months ago, it's clear that I would benefit from any constructive advice that you may care to impart.

I'm basically at the limit of the capacity of the HEQ5 with this OTA, but I'm getting 0.4 to 0.6 arcsecond guiding (which I think is OK?).  I'm not sure whether the softness and lack of detail in the image is due to slight oversampling (0.53 arcseconds per pixel), or not enough data, or whether I have not quite got the right backfocus nutted out, or operator error.  Or all of the above!  Or I'm not processing well enough.  Or it's just not worth imaging, even in narrowband, when the moon is this full and bright.

Hope you are all doing better than I am!  Thanks in advance.

NGC2018 is an H2/O111 rich emission nebula close by its big brother, the Tarantula Nebula near the LMC.  Most of the attention goes to big bro so I thought it would be nice to attempt something a little less well known.

Title: NGC2018 V2

Description: A bit more time and effort in PI revealed some further detail in the data and allowed a better presentation in the Hubble palette. Much improved methinks!
