Description

NGC1869, NGC1871 and NGC1873 in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Not frequently imaged but full of interesting objects including star clusters, emission nebula and shell nebula. Of interest is DEM L99 which is a shell nebula in the upper right area of the image. These structures were first discussed by Davies, Elliot and Meaburn (hence the DEM designation) in 1976 and are considered supernova remnants. NGC1869 and NGC1873 are open star clusters. NGC1871 is an open star cluster associated with an emission nebula. This is a HOO image with RGB stars.
