Description

Hooray, finally, almost three hours without clouds. There was even time for a 27 panel mosaic (Final image at FL=1500mm, 2ms, gain 200, 400x, 138fps, 10-bit ADC, raw8, 1.5x drizzled). The sky was too good to me, almost suspicious. I hope this was no treacherous trick of the weather gods.

For the images in the revision I picked a 3x barlow and placed it further away from the camera sensor (a filter wheel in between) resulting in an about 3.5x to 4x barlow. Never got that close with my 6-inch Newton while the air was comparatively calm and the Moon near the zenith.

The widely unknown crater on the Rev B picture resembles the eye of a cyclop, no, let me be more romantic, like the eye of a typhoon above Mare Imbrium. What a shame, the four craterlets in Plato won't show up without excessive sharpening, which I prefer to avoid. Perhaps the lack of resolution is because I failed to remove the IR-cut filter from the camera's nose piece which would have been a great idea considering that another IR-cut was in the filter wheel. Two is better and better safe than sorry 😇
