Description

This image is a HaRGB composite, made together with @Nicolas Adriano. It reveals itself as one of the most colorful and brightest regions of the winter season. By using a stock camera, I was able to capture the beautiful yellow-orange field of the Milky Way and the colors of the stars with fidelity, together with the reflection blue nebulosity of the Trifid Nebula. Nicolas managed with the Ha filter finer details, and obviously an intense amount of hydrogen, which even in the darkest skies of all I would never be able to reveal with my current setup. Thus, it is shown as a complementary work of the qualities of each capture.

The processing, done with a HaGB combination as luminance, the R channel resulting from the multiplication of R with Ha, and the respective green and blue channels, led to an unexpected palette, which contains the accurate star colors from the RGB, however adding all the intense haze of Ha, as a bubblegum pink color. I arrived at this combination on my first attempt at HaRGB merging, and I really enjoyed the results. This palette can be named HaGB-HaR-G-B, in the usual LRGB format.

Thank you, Nicolas, for sharing the data so we could make this really interesting collaboration! I hope we can carry out more similar projects in the future.
