Description

Taken from Camping Domaine des Mathevies, Saine-Nathalène, Perigord, France on 14/15/16th Aug 2018, this is a wide view of the Eagle Nebula (Messier 16) and Swan/Omega Nebula (Messier 17) in Serpens and Sagittarius respectively.

Taken in the light of H-Alpha, this is shows the two large star forming regions, as well as surrounding hydrogen (forming several other smaller, fainter objects), in addition to the open cluster Messier 18.

Taken using a QHY163M (-15C, gain 200, offset 85) through a Canon 200mm F2.8L II, using a Baader 7nm HA filter. Mount was a Losmandy GM8. Capture was performed using SGP.

Exposure was 2h 50m using 5 min sub exposures (some were lost due to poor quality of the subs - this object is not particularly high and had to cope with local trees and some poor tracking...). 14/15/16th Aug 2018.
