Description

Messier 34

Is an open cluster in Perseus. Discovered by Giovanni Batista Hodierna around 1654. It is about 1500 light years away and 7.5 light years across consiting of approximately 400 stars and as about 200 million years old.

The cluster can be seen by eye in very dark locations, but is possible to see with binoculars with moderate light pollution.
