Description

The Dolphin Head Nebula (SH2-308) is a low magnitude target of primarily OIII with very light Ha remanence. It surrounds the Wolf-Rayet star in Canis Major. It is a difficult target to capture in North America due to it either remaining below or barely getting above 30 degrees, depending on your particular latitude. This image is a culmination of over 22 hours on integration time, captured in OII and Ha. This has been a lengthy time intensive target due to the fact that I only started acquisition when the target was above 30 degrees, and it only stayed above 30 degrees for a few hours a night. Also, all of the data was collected with no moonlight with sky measuring 23.07 SQM per the observatory sky meter. The Dolphin Head Nebula was truly a labor of love! Enjoy!
