Description

Very good weather and sky condition last two weeks, so I was able to shot a new target I wanted to catch since long time ago : IC 1805, the Heart Nebula in constellation Cassiopeia. This beautiful double-ionized gas region holds several nice features such as the Fish Head Nebula (NGC896) and Melotte 15, a open cluster located in the brightest central part of the nebula, home of O-type supergiant stars about 50 to 100 times the Sun’s mass.

On the right border of the heart-shaped nebula is also Mk 6, Markarian 6, a nice open cluster with less than ten bright stars. IC1805 lies some 7’500 l.y. away and spans 200 l.y.

I did 60min Ha and 210 min RGB integration (means without filter) over two nights on not-so-bad conditions : no wind, no high clouds, no dew at all. Temperature around 15°C.

This is the 2nd time I combine Ha and RGB datas to create a single image using NBRGBCombination script. I processed each image individually before combine them together and processed some small touch-up as usual. Still a lot to learn under PI but it makes so much fun ;-) I hope you will enjoy this image and do not hesitate to post any comment and suggestion ;-)
