Description

NGC3198 is a grand design spiral galaxy in the direction of the Ursa Major Constellation in the neighborhood of 47 Million Light-Years distant. It is about half the size of the Milky Way, but still makes an impressive showing at its considerable distance. There are several deep blue small star-like dots in the image, one of which is approximately 12.4 Billion Light-Years distant. NGC3198 exhibits lots of hot blue stars and pinkish star-forming regions throughout its arms.
