Description

Comparision between images taken with a CLS- and without a CLS-filter. On two successive nights, I took widefield images of Orion. On the first night I used no CLS-filter; 22x3min at ISO 800. Having a first look at the images showed, that H-regions were almost not visible. So the following night I tried the same subject, but this time with CLS-filter. To compensate for the filter, I took 5 min sub-exposures at ISO 1600.

To show more or less the differences between the two situations; I applied only DBE and a strong Histogram Stretch on both images. On the second image; the H-regions are still dim, but visible. Colors are slightly different. Now, it's up to the image processing to get a good result.

On both nights, the sky was not completely clear; the sky limiting magnitude was at only about mag 4.3.
