Description

In the past, prior to purchasing an Orion Atlas, I've tried to image Orion Nebula with just my DSLR and a fixed tripod. I managed to acquire images, however they never contained any detail.

This is my first attempt at capturing Orion and Running Man nebulas with my new equipment. It is my first integration, as well as my first attempt at using multiple sequences at different exposure times to capture as much of the dynamic range in this nebula as I could, without blowing out the core.

Overall I am pretty satisfied with the results. This is a manually mapped blend of three separate image sequences:30x120s (nebula), 20x60s & 20x30s (core). All sequences were stacked with DSS, calibrated with 30x flats and 100x bias only. PHD dithering was utilized during capture. All image processing done in Photoshop CS6 w/ Carboni's Actions and GradientXterminator.
