Description

The 'Tadpole' Galaxy, UGC 10214 or Arp 188, lies in the constellation of Draco and is catalogued as 'narrow filament by Arp.

It is quite faint at mag. 14.4 and measures about 5' x 4' in the sky. It is not an easy target visually. There appears to be no obvious interacting galaxy to produce the 'narrow filament', although there are several other faint galaxies spread around the field.

My image comprises of 15 x 400 sec exposures through my 10" f4.8 reflector. The camera was the SX H9C one-shot colour camera. These are the longest subs I've taken using my KWIQ guider / PHD combination for guiding, because of the relative faintness of the 'Tadpole'. The galaxy at the bottom of the picture is the 14.5 mag. spiral mcg +09-26-052, distance unknown.
