Description

A pretty faint and difficult galaxy, particularly the spiral arms. NGC 6140 in Draco is magnitude 12.6 with an average surface brightness of 16.5 magnitude per square arcminute, that's faint. Redshift distance is an estimated 42 MLy.

One of its arms appears to be broken and bent backwards - other than that I can find little to justify its Sbc/Pec classification. Also, it looks Barred to me.

This image taken in June - 30 x 3 min exposures in AstroArt3.
