Description

The last image I posted (ngc 4490) showed one possible result after a galactic interaction takes place.

This image shows the scene just before, on a galactic timescale, that is, a collision takes place.

NGC's 4298 and 4302 are situated in the constellation of Coma Berenices. 4298 is the mag. 11.4 face on Sc spiral, 4302 is the nice edge-on 11.6 edge-on Sc spiral. Estimated distance is around 52MLy.

Taken on one of those warm hazy nights a few weeks back when summer arrived, briefly. 25 x 120sec exposures, acquired in AA3, processed in PixInsight and NEAT.
