Description

Here's the galaxy I mentioned in my earlier posting on NGC 5033. NGC 5005 is the companion to NGC 5033. The 2 galaxies are moving towards each other but are not yet close enough to significantly interact with each other, though there is evidence of warping of 5033's spiral arms.

NGC 5005 has very pronounced dust lanes. It is classified Sb and has an apparent mag of 9.8.

This image consists of 33 x 3minute subs, sigma combined in Astroart 3 and processed in PixInsight and NEAT image.
