Description

NGC 7769 is part of the galaxy group NGC 7771, which is to be found in Pegasus. NGC 7769 is the spiral to the right of my image, NGC 7771 is the edge-on spiral to the left. There is a lot of interaction going on between the 2 galaxies but it is not very evident in my image. In fact, this little group is not that easy to image because the whole area is affected by vast clouds of foreground dust. This dust reflects light from our own milky way galaxy and reduces the transparency and contrast in the background galaxies. The NGC galaxy group lies at the incredible distance of 200 MLy, so I suppose seeing anything at all is a bit of a bonus.

My image is the result of 30 x 3 minute exposures.
