Description

Finally got a descent picture of Andromeda. As many if you know I have not been able to get much imaging in because of the fires near my area in the past few months. Decided to try my hand at this galaxy again and so far this is the best galaxy shot I've gotten, have a long way to go though. Andromeda is thought to contain over a trillion stars, and the neat thing about it is if you look at those red/magenta spots those are actually Nebulae inside of another galaxy which I think is so cool!

We had initially thought that the Andromeda Galaxy was the largest galaxy in our local group, however in the past year we re-calculated and found that the Milky Way is actually much larger. Either way in about 4.5 billion years the Milky Way will collide with Andromeda creating a cosmic dance between the two galaxies and throwing dust and stars. From far enough away will look like someone threw up glitter at a cosmic wedding.
