Description

Testing out some new gear I recently got, here’s my first picture using my new astronomy camera on my new equatorial mount. This is the Eagle Nebula also known as The Star Queen (M16). In the center of this image lies the famous ‘Pillars of Creation’ made popular by NASAs Hubble telescope in 1994. That image is most likely responsible for my love of the cosmos and has always been stuck in the back of my mind. I’ve been chasing a comparable photo for sometime now, attempting to photograph something similar, none of which I’ve been happy with. Although it will never be as good as the Hubble’s image, I wanted to share this one as I’m fairly happy with it, and it will be a good marker to look back on. Maybe I’ll have a bigger scope and a more detailed image in the future.

This star-forming region is located 7000 light-years away from earth and stretches across an area of 70 x 55 light-years.
