Description

October 30th, 2016

The star named Botein caught my eye this evening.

This star has several names: Botein, Delta Arietis, HD19787, HIP14838, HR951.

https://www.universeguide.com/star/botein

It is estimated to be approximately 170 light years away and 9x the diameter of our own sun.

The apparent halo around the star is a reflection from my own equipment.

Mostly this shot is "historic" to me since it is my first successful image with a "meridian flip" on CGEM-Pro with VC200L scope.

It is 69x120 second integrated shots, so it represents over 2.2 hours of data collection (ASI1600MC, 75 gain/12 ofs/0deg cooled). It is highly cropped since after the flip, the overlap wasn't perfect. In any case, it is a reasonable result and I'm satisfied how round the stars are.

The galaxy IC1894 is slightly in the frame. I believe there are two other galaxies (faint fuzzy) also in the image, looking slightly above right at the star at the very bottom center of the image.
