Description

This is the region around the star SAO 220204 in the vast area of Vela supernova remnant. The supernova that originates this SNR exploded around 11.000-12.300 years ago, when was about 800 LY away. The Vela SNR is one of the closest known to us although very faint, shining with apparent magnitude 12.

This image is a capture in bi-color through Ha and O3 filters. Each channel is a stack of 14 sub frames of 20 minutes each.
