Description

This is my second attempt at color imaging of the moon. This view of the surface is a two panel mosaic that includes Plato crater at the upper left, and three major mountain ranges (Montes Alpes, Montes Caucasus, and Montes Apenninus) bordering Mare Imbrium. The image was acquired with a one-shot color CMOS camera. A total of 10000 frames were acquired, with the best 30% selected for stacking. Though seeing was quite good for this evening, I did not use a Barlow lens. Color imaging does certainly provide interesting detail, though it also does bring another level of complexity in the image processing.

Wishing everyone clear skies and good health during this difficult time.
