Description

This planetary nebula located 780 light years away in the constellation Virgo was mainly imaged in LRGB. Since blue light seemed dominant there, I was curious to see what would be revealed with an Oiii filter. As expected, the signal is stronger than that of the H-Alpha but from the first hours of stacking, I noticed that there seemed to be an extension further from the center in Oiii. The signal is very weak, but each addition of the nights devoted to the Oiii confirmed its presence. I did some literature research on articles regarding this object with narrowband filters but could not find any that had obtained sufficient signal to expose it.

We can now wonder if it is indeed a part of outer shell, and therefore older, of the nebula since the original full field does not present any other trace of Oiii elsewhere.

This is a dynamic narrowband + RGB combination
