Description

The Dragon's Egg in Ara always seems to elicit "What's that?" when I show the "fighting dragons" images and I have been longing to get back to it and be able to say "Look at this!" Its pretty interesting -- an O class star doing its thing with old and new rings of activity, about half way through its 5-6 million year life. Only 4000 light years away, at least its probably still there unlike some big stars we photograph.

Technically I found it hard to bring out the peripheral rings even though they showed well on the O2 shots. Finally got it by making a Master Light from all the shots combined.

Taken with 200mm Quattro on NEQ6 with ZWO ASI 178MC - 36x300s ZWO Duo filter, 31x300s ZWO 7nm Ha, 20X300s ZWO 7nm O3 on a night of poor transparency but good seeing. (All at 100x gain, -5degC cooled).
