Description

This data was gained by my friend Chang Zhang from National Observatory of China. The telescope which took it was at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory.

Ngc1999 is an emission nebula in the southern sky. The Herbig-Haro object in the image is HH34, it is the jet coming out from a new born star. While the jet is traveling into the space, it interact with the gas and the dust around the star, producing radiation that can be dectected by our telescope. This image uses the narrow-band filter to record the Hα line, the SII line, and the OIII line in the nebula, respectively, and synthesizes the famous Harb color photos. The sky area covered by this image is as big as a full moon.
