Description

I woke up about 0200 this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. I checked the weather and it was clear and calm, temps in the low 50sF. The biggest downside was the humidity was about 93% because of the almost 2” of rain we received in the last 48 hours. Fortunately I control the one streetlight on my drive, so I was able to completely turn all nearby lights off, though the glow in the sky was worse than usual, I assume because of the humidity. By eye, I could only see about a half dozen stars in the limited viewing area of my driveway. I was blocked by my house and trees below about 45degs, and completely blocked in the north and east, from about 350-90 degs.

I love the eVscope! From the time I decided to try some viewing/imaging to starting to view was about 15 minutes. I could not have done that in under an hour with any other scope/mount I have. The next several images are from this morning. Frankly I’m amazed they turned out so well with the viewing conditions I had.

First is M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy. I’ve posted this before, but I think this is a better shot, under worse conditions! Total exposure time was 10 minutes.
