Description

This image I took might not be very pretty, but what it shows is mind blowing to me. I was able to detect the relativistic Jet being blasted out from M87 by its supermassive black hole, from my back garden!!!

Today I read that this black hole - as imaged recently - is called Pōwehi, a Hawai'ian word meaning "the adorned fathomless dark creation".

How heavy metal is THAT!!

The energy output is staggering, the relativistic particles in the Jet contain about 10^13 the energy our galaxy puts out each second, so about 300,000 years of what our galaxy produced if I calculate correctly.
