Description

One of my motivations to do backyard astrophotography is to peek deep into space from mediocre sites (like my backyard - mediocre of course only from the astronomy point of view) and catch the marvels of the universe thanks to modern technology. This is in particular the case in June at 52N, when you never get further than  nautical twilight, and that also only for a very few hours.

This is a little gem in the Hercules constellation: UGC 11124 (aka PGC 61423), a barred spiral galaxy. I could not find it on astrobin and also a google search gives very little information - you find more rotation curve images than actual images for this gal. It is a dwarf galaxy about 67 MLy away, but I find it quite appealing! And actually fairly large and bright for its anonymous status.UGC has a little companion PGC3088568 (at about 9h) - and seems to be interacting with it. Still have to find out what that little smudge in the lower right of the image is.

It was a fun undertaking for a few short clear nights!

data were taken on June 18, 20, 21, 22, and 23.
