Description

This is a pair of interacting galaxy in Draco that are in galaxy group approximately 277 million light years away. This group includes the edge on spiral galaxy UGC 10641 to the lower left of center and the elliptical galaxy UGC 10641 at the far right. The elliptical has the odd radial shells to the left and right that are only hinted at here under a suburban sky.

The bright blue star in the field is blue-white 10.6 magnitude (Visual) star TYC 3898-989-1with a color index of -0.03, giving it a color similar to that of Vega, but is much more distant at about 3700 light years (Vega is only 27 light years away). Given the ratio of distances and the magnitude difference between Vega and TYC 3898-989-1, it appears TYC 3898-989-1 and Vega also has a very similar luminosities.

Each of the 5 images stacked to produce this view were 400 x 1.5 second live stacked in Sharpcap.
