Description

This dark nebula in the Cepheus constellation takes its name from its curious shape. Part of the Cepheus molecular cloud in the Orion arm of our galaxy is located at a distance of about 2600 light years, and spans about 50 light years. Two reflection nebulae VdB 149 and 150 are visible on the shark's head and pectoral fin. The temperature of the dust in this nebula is just above absolute zero, making it one of the coldest objects in the universe.
