Description

I spent the previous two nights trying to capture various short and long subs of Andromeda for HDR composition and I left my mount out hoping the predicted clouds the next night would lift......

Well they half way did and I had this Dark nebula and one other on my radar for such a night. Barnard 174 happened to be just out side the clouds reach for 4 hrs. The nebula is a quite striking dark nebula in the constellation of Cepheus. It's an active star formation area with surrounding cold gas at -263 degrees Celsius ideal for gas to condense under gravity with out being too energetic to form new stars.

I tried to emphasize the star background here along with the nebula, not focusing on the fainter hydrogen gas. I left the stars more prominent than normal, but I like the results. I am also curious for more information about the apparent binary set just below the dark nebula itself.

As usual, the RASA 8 preforms well an the full page and full resolution show the detail the astrograph is capable of producing. Also, if you check out the corners, it shows how flat  an image the RASA 8 can produce when using a EAF. The scope takes a lot of heat for not having a flat image place, but I have found that is mainly due to the very narrow critical focus zone that I cold never get by hand with the focuser until I switched the to the ZWO EAF.
