My first globlar cluster. I was not sure what to expect. The center is so bright that I had to reduce the ISO to 200 to avoid overexposure of the center during the 8min subs.

I did the processing in Pixinsight. It was difficult to get the right star masks. I had to use a combination of two masks to cover the bright and the faint stars. Deconvolution was important to sharpen the center with all the tiny little stars. I'm surprised about the different colours of the stars.

The season for the globulars has just started.

Subs for M53 and M5 are already taken and M13 and M92 are going to come ...

Description: New version with processing from scratch. I aligned the RGB channels and used to the RepairHSV Script to getter better images of the stars right at the beginning. Much more effort was used for Deconvolution. This helped to get the stars resolved in the center. Star masking was quite challenging.
I hope you like it!

Well, a look with "fresh eyes" this morning showed that the faint stars in the outer part were wiped away by noise reduction. This was better in the first version. It seems I'm not yet finished with these data ...

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
