I shot this prior with my 135mm Rokinon but was not happy with that image, lens or camera had tilt and stars got blurry to one side. This time with the 300mm f/2.8 lens. I couldn't quite fit the whole nebula in the frame, so I planned a mosaic for the lower half as well as the 'dot' at the bottom (The Little Rosette, SH2-170). However I am having some issues getting the processing of the two to match up enough to not look different at the seam. Mosaics I have not mastered yet! So for now I have uploaded the upper half. This is a SHO blend in pixelmath, using a SII narrowband filter as well as duoband filter for Ha and Oiii and also photometrically calibrated color stars with only UV/IR cut filter. The original version was HOO blend since the SII data with my DSLR was so poor I didn't think it was usable but after a lot of cleaning up I got a nice SHO version to look decent I think.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
