Description

I’ve been doing Astrophotography for nearly 2.5 years and I’ve never managed to see the Aurora in the UK

Well that changed completely last night with this beautiful display that I captured at Embleton Bay in Northumberland (55 degrees North)

I have to say seeing it with the eye I wasn’t sure what it was, it looked like a light pollution glow but in a direction where there shouldn’t be any and I can’t say I could discern the colours by eye, so a little unsure I took a 10s image to see what it was, I was actually shocked that it was aurora dispute me seeing the alerts that it could be visible

Absolutely overjoyed to witness and capture this beautiful phenomena in my native North East England

I hope you enjoy the view
