Description

A rose in an ocean of stars…

The beautiful Cocoon nebula (IC5146) is nearly 15 light-years wide, located some 3,300 light years away toward the constellation of the Swan (Cygnus). Like other star forming regions, it stands out in red, glowing, hydrogen gas excited by young, hot stars. 

The image is composed of 24x300s subs taken through a WO Redcat 51 with an Optolong L-Enhance narrowband filter and  a modified Nikon D7200.
