Description

IC 2574 is a beautiful mess of a small and dim galaxy.  It is 12.8 MLYs away.   I see the formation of spiral arms taking shade in my image.  When first discovered it was thought to be a nebula.

from Wikipedia - IC 2574, also known as Coddington's Nebula, is a dwarf spiral galaxy discovered by American astronomer Edwin Foster Coddington in 1898.  Located in Ursa Major, a constellation in the northern sky, it is an outlying member of the M81 Group. It is believed that 90% of its mass is in the form of dark matter. IC 2574 does not show evidence of interaction with other galaxies. It is currently forming stars; a UV analysis showed clumps of star formation 85 to 500 light-years (26 to 150 pc) in size.

Lots of blue young stars/dust, not much other color.  I think I'll try to grab some Ha and see what it gives.  I had fun with the processing as the data was week, but with the tools I was able to bring it out fairly well.  I'm really enjoying this image.  I see lots of star forming regions.  Due to windy nights, my guiding never got below 0.75 RMS probably averages 0.9+   I threw out 50% of my subs.
