Description

These interacting spiral galaxies lie in Canes Venatici at a distance of about 160 million light years. The larger one, NGC 5393,  is much larger than our Milky Way at 140000 light years while the small one is only 90000 light years across. It is thought that NGC 5394 has moved through NGC 5393.

I really like the shape and the arms that really seem connected - but I'm not sure how much that is just superposition due to perspective. The galaxies are about 3 million light years apart in the direction we're looking.
