Description

Abell 81 (PK117+18.1) is a rarely imaged planetary nebula in Cepheus. This is the fifth image on Astrobin. Abell81 is very small, measuring 0.6 arc minutes and has a magnitude listed at 14.0. It is very bright for an Abell PN, with the RGB image showing a very strong image of the PN. Both Ha and Oiii make a good contribution, with the Oiii stronger resulting in a teal color.

The PN measures only 0.6 arc minutes, however, the Oiii forms a distinct, but very faint uniform circular halo with a diameter of 1.6 arc minutes. I do not think this halo has ever been noted in any of the published images of this Abell.
