Description

This field straddles the border between Cassiopeia and Andromeda. The long diagonal swath of nebulosity is LBN 564; the smaller patch to the right and roughly perpendicular is LBN 561. These nebulae are interstellar material reflecting starlight (and blocking optical visibility behind them). LBN 564 has some molecular clouds within its overall structure. Three of these clouds are from the massive collaboration of the Planck Catalogue of Galactic Cold Clumps (PGCC). There are some background galaxies in this field. The more significant ones range from 179 to 593 million light years distant. These nebulae, molecular clouds, galaxies and some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image. Vertical FOV is approximately 85 arc minutes. image scale (large image) is 1.96 arcsec/pixel
