Description

The ngc 7766 Galaxy group in Peg.

Consists of::

ngc 7765, a 15th-magnitude barred spiral galaxy about 355 million light years away. Given that distance and its apparent size of 0.7 by 0.7 arcmin, it is about 75 thousand light years across.

ngc 7766 is a 16th-magnitude compact galaxy (type C) in Pegasus, apparent size about 0.5 by 0.2 arcmin.

ngc 7767 is a 14th-magnitude lenticular galaxy (type S0/a) in Pegasus. It's apparent size is about 1.0 by 0.2 arcmin.

ngc 7768 is a bright 12th-magnitude elliptical galaxy (type E2) in Pegasus and it's apparent size is about 1.6 by 1.3 arcmin.

Not an easy target and a misty, murky night didn't help but there is something to be seen of this very remote group of galaxies. There are a great many unidentified galaxies in the field.

My image 40 x 120 second exposures.
