Description

This galaxy is nearly edge-on with an optical diameter of 130 thousand light years, lacatted in Leo and distant from solar system by 35 milion light years. Its apparent magnitude is 9.5 and declination +13deg 35 sec, already too north to be captured with a good elevation (transit @ 52 deg of elevation).

NGC 3628 is part of the Leo Triplet with NCG 3523 and NGC 3627, which with it forms a gravitationally bound group of galaxies that also includes NGC 3593.

NGC 3628 has a nucleos with an intense star formation, that blows out material of the center in a collimated outflow perpendicular to the plane of the galaxy.
