Description

One of the emblematic formations of Mars, Syrtis Major is well marked with interesting shades of tones, then just below Hellas Basin which presents light and darker areas (perhaps a few clouds of dust). The SPC probably continues its seasonal sublimation. The northern polar cap shows a bluish hue.

Finally, at the top right a narrow band, Meridani Planum.

Technically, this is an L-IRGB image made from 5 2-minutes videos per IRGB channel (from 03:11 UT to 03:41 UT) or 30 minutes of derotation under WinJupos.

I kept only 3000 images out of a total of 150,000 by making a rigorous selection of the best images especially from the IR channel. I thought that number would not be enough to limit the noise, but the final image reassured me.

The luminance layer was achieved by retaining 60% of the IR channel and then final treatment with WinJupos.
