Description

The 'Sombrero Galaxy', M-104, is one of the most-imaged edge-on galaxies in the night sky. Although smaller in size (49,000 light years in diameter) than most recognized spirals, it, nevertheless, harbors a super-massive black hole at its core, this evidenced by the rapid rotational speed of stars at the center. It straddles the border between Virgo and Corvus in Spring skies, and lies ~31 million light years distant.
