Description

Two Messier objects in one frame within the constellation Ursa Major!

M108 is also known as the Surfboard Galaxy annd is a barred spiral. It lies about 46 million light years from us and is moving away from us. It is thought to be 110,000 light years wide and is home to about 400 billion stars, not dissimilar to our own Milky Way.

M97 is also known as the Owl Nebula, which is a planetary nebula. It lies approximately 2030 light years away from Earth and is thought to be about 8000 years old. It is also still expanding!

This data has been on my hard drive for over a year, so it feels good to finally get around to processing it!
