Description

This is a single quasar that produces a double image due to gravitational lensing by an intervening galaxy 3.7 Gly distant. The quasar is 7.8 Gly distant. It was the first case of gravitational lensing to be discovered, in 1979.

The object is marked by a red reticule. It is halfway between the centre of the image and the bottom-left corner.
