Description

NGC3718 and its near neighbour NGC 3729 in the left of the image are galaxies that probably have interacted in the past. NGC3718 is either a spiral or lenticular, and NGC 3729 is a barred spiral galaxy. I really like this pair and also that smaller group below, and find they have a lot of interesting detail.

Processing the data was a pain, though, and I do not know why: I had a really hard time to get the colours right and the data was far, far noisier than I have come to expect from other galaxies. I have no idea why that is. Adding the data from the Atik helped some, but I just think this will need more data, that I will add in the coming seasons.

Still, with the noise reduction I did and some final tweaks in Lightroom I think this image is now ready for presentation.
