Mechanical problems with EQ-6

Description

I am pretty sure that something is wrong with my mount. I have ongoing problems with very regular spikes in my guiding. This happens every 2 or 3 minutes. I have contacted Chris Peter from "CG-5 Montierungsservice", one of the specialists here in northern germany when it comes to mounts. He says it might be a problem with the "Schnecke" (i believe its "worm gear" in english, but i am not sure). I will drive to the town "Minden" (that is not very far away from my place) on tuesday and meet him so that he can take a closer look and hopefully he is able to repair the problem. Keep your fingers crossed!

You can see the problem in the screenshot i have taken from last nights imaging session. The "tick" happens regularly, although it might not look like this on the screenshot. That is because i changed the exposure time after the second tick. This leads to totally unusable lights, like shown in image B. This is crop of a single, unprocessed sub, only stretched so that something is visible. You can see the wobbling if you take a closer look at the stars.

[Edit 2020-04-22]

The mount is at Chris' place at the moment. He will look at it, replace some parts with better parts and check it in general. I will report back if i have new information.

[Edit 2020-08-12]

I have my mount back. If you want to see what Chris did, besides changing some basic parts, reneweing the lubricants with industrial-standard ones and doing general cleaning, check out his video on YouTube (german, but you can see the wobbling part without understanding german, i think).

Long story short: The mount seems to work properly again, i imaged the whole two last nights without major problems. So after a long break i am back in business :-) I also reverted my PHD to 2.6.5 which seems to work way better than any newer version.
