Description

6-panel mosaic of the region from M31 to M33 and surrounding IFN. I found the IFN in this region to be incredibly dim and very difficult to draw out from the surrounding starfield. I might have overbaked it, and will have to try different processing. Any suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated!

This image was inspired by another excellent image out there showing the galaxy pair with surrounding IFN.

Canon 600D, Skyguider Pro and iEXOS-100, Rokinon 135mm f/2 lens, guided with PHD2. Processed in APP, Starnet++, and GIMP.

Description: I re-integrated the panels due to an issue I found with the flats, and tried to incorporate some of the feedback I received on the image. Star color calibration worked more effectively on m31 and m33, so the color balance isn't quite so strange.

Saved as JPG as the file is otherwise too large.

Description: Reprocessed lightly in PixInsight with as little digital chicanery as possible. The galaxy detail is a bit washed out, but that was due to having to compress that part of the histogram to show the IFN. No masking, layers, etc. Just stars removed via StarXTerminator, background processed separately, and then recombined via Pixelmath.
